Coronavirus is a serious disease that is accompanied by symptoms of SARS. The virus was first detected in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2020. On March 11, WHO declared a pandemic due to the rapid spread of the virus. As of March 19, coronavirus has been recorded in 72 countries.
Where was the first case of coronavirus recorded in Ukraine?
The first case of infection was on March 3 in a man who flew in from Italy. He did a transplant in Romania. Upon his return to Ukraine, he, along with his wife, self-isolated. But, after a few days, the man developed symptoms of SARS. He consulted a doctor and followed his recommendations until March 29. On this day, the man's condition worsened and symptoms appeared, which required additional information from the infectious disease specialist.
The patient called an ambulance, reporting symptoms. A special team arrived for the patient, which was formed by the Ministry of Health to serve patients who are suspected of having coronavirus.
By ambulance, the patient was brought to the hospital base, which was determined according to the order of the Health Department in the Chernivtsi region. The patient was tested for coronavirus and they were positive.
The number of infected, dead and recovered
Coronavirus in Ukraine was first detected on March 20 in the Ternopil region of a clergyman. A 57-year-old man is in the hospital for treatment. Doctors assess his condition as satisfactory. Since the clergyman was in contact with the parishioners, 400 people are in self-isolation.
On March 16, the Ministry of Health reported that 2 people had confirmed coronavirus in Kyiv.
As of March 21, 41 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in Ukraine. One person managed to recover. The epidemic of pneumonia in Ukraine took the lives of three citizens. In addition, three citizens of the country died outside of Ukraine.
Quarantine measures and border closures
Ukraine has taken tough measures to combat the spread of coronavirus. From March 13, all kindergartens, schools and higher educational institutions. All pupils and students have distance learning. From March 16, air, rail, bus communications between cities and regions are prohibited. Subway service has been suspended indefinitely. It is allowed to transport no more than 10 people in city fixed-route taxis and taxis. The latest ruling caused panic among residents of large cities. At stops, people argued and fought for their right of way, as a result of which employees of important structures at the moment came to work several hours late. That is why, from March 22, medical workers, employees of pharmacies and grocery stores and strategically important industries will be transported in fixed-route taxis. All these people will be given certificates.
In accordance with the decree, mass events are prohibited, which include rituals and ceremonies in which more than 10 people participate. Food exports to the country have been restricted by the government. For small and medium-sized businesses, tax changes have been developed and a credit holiday regime has been developed. Pensioners who have a payment of less than 5,000 hryvnias have decided to pay an additional 1,000 hryvnias.
Since March 16, the government of Ukraine has banned foreign citizens from entering the country. The restrictions will be in place for two weeks. If the number of cases increases, the deadline will be extended by the government. People who have the right to temporarily or permanently reside in Ukraine can enter the territory of the country. If a person works in a consular office, diplomatic mission and representation of international organizations, then he will be allowed to cross the border.
In accordance with the decision of the National Security and Defense Council, which was supported by the Cabinet of Ministers, almost half of the checkpoints on the Ukrainian border were closed by decree of President Volodymyr Zelensky. Since March 17, air, rail and bus traffic has been completely stopped. Ukrainians can only cross the border in their own car.

The President reports that due to the emergence of cases of infection in Ukraine, it is necessary to close gyms, shopping centers, bars, restaurants, cafes and other catering establishments. Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that with an increase in the number of infections to 100, a state of emergency would be introduced in the country.
The President asked his citizens to treat the situation with understanding. He urges citizens not to sow panic and stay at home.
Uncontrolled territories: Crimea and ORDLO
On March 21, the first case of coronavirus infection was recorded in Crimea in a man who was in France. MP Ahtem Chiygoz called on Crimeans to self-isolate in order to prevent the spread of the virus. He noted that the life of the inhabitants of the peninsula is currently under threat. The politician promises that if the Russian-controlled authorities of Crimea remain inactive, he will apply methods of influencing the world community.
The infected man does not provide information about where he previously stayed. He was placed for treatment in a separate box. A total of 417 people are under medical supervision in Crimea. It is possible to introduce partial quarantine in the occupied territory. In ORDLO, there are no tests that detect coronavirus. Over the past 7 days, 90 people have been hospitalized with suspected coronavirus.
