Thailand is the first country where the coronavirus has been detected besides China. And there is an explanation for this - the Chinese often visit Thailand for tourism purposes. But despite this, the Thai government is actively fighting the new disease. In this case, tougher precautions have been taken. In addition, compared with some other countries, the infection rate is very low.
How many cases of coronavirus in Thailand
As of March 21, 2020, the total number of cases is 410 people. Of these, 78 contracted the virus in other countries, 32 contracted the coronavirus while communicating with visiting tourists who arrived in Thailand from other countries with an increased risk of spreading the virus. These foreign nationals are also housed in the infectious disease wards of Thai hospitals. The rest contracted the virus in public places.
On a note! 45 people managed to recover, and only one died. Today, 366 people are being treated in hospitals.
Where exactly was the coronavirus found in Thailand
The most common places where there is a high risk of infection with coronavirus are the Thai boxing stadium in Bangkok, a couple of bars in the entertainment venues of the capital and in the southern provinces that border Malaysia, where participants recently arrived at a public religious Muslim event, which was organized in a mosque.
Can I travel to Thailand because of the coronavirus?
The Chinese virus in Thailand has affected the country's tourism industry. As a result of the current situation, many tourists from around the world refuse to go to Thailand to rest. At the same time, prices for vouchers and all tourist services are significantly reduced.
Restaurants, temples, museums and other tourist sites operate according to the previous schedule and are available for everyone to visit. All festivals and various events that are scheduled for March and the coming months are not canceled. A big question is the further work of pubs and entertainment venues, where there are especially many people and where it is more likely to get infected.
If possible, it is best to cancel your trip to the country in order to protect yourself and reduce the risk of infection. But if it is still impossible to cancel the trip, then you should follow the established safety measures as much as possible and immediately go to the hospital at the first symptoms.
Precautions in Thailand
Due to the rapid increase in the number of infected, the Thai authorities have tightened entry for tourists from 20 countries. This number includes Russia. The restrictions also affected China, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Georgia, Mexico, India, and Romania. Previously, residents of these states could apply for a visa upon arrival in Thailand by providing passport data. Today there is no such possibility. Also, the visa-free regime is not valid for residents of Italy and South Korea.
The country's authorities are making every effort to keep the kingdom's income at the same level, as the situation with the coronavirus in Thailand has hit the economy hard. The only thing that can be done is to use existing facilities and precautions throughout the territory regarding new carriers of an unexplored virus. Large-scale preventive measures are spread throughout the state.
Almost all airports have infrared thermal cameras that regularly inspect all arrivals in the country. Also, in cities and provinces where a dangerous infection has been detected, sanitary and epidemiological rules have been strengthened. They can even ban cruise ships from entering.
The department has an official page that regularly updates up-to-date information regarding the situation in the country. The page contains information regarding the number of infected, dead and recovered, regions in which the infection is especially common. The main recommendations are also listed. They are known to everyone: wash your hands well with soap, do not contact people who have symptoms of a cold, in particular coughing and sneezing, do not use other people's personal hygiene products. There are no problems with disinfectants, they can be found at every turn - in shops, shopping centers, they are even given out in public transport.
The country is actively preparing hospitals. According to medical professionals, if the coronavirus in Thailand enters the 3rd stage, an additional hospital with 100 beds will be required, which is not yet officially operational. There is a separate hospital for people with mild cases of the virus.
The government is trying to provide the population with the necessary number of masks so that everyone has enough of them. In addition to domestic production, many masks come from other countries.
In hotels, restaurants, shops and other crowded places, the working staff is making every effort to protect vacationers and local residents from the virus. Several times a day, high-quality cleaning and disinfection is carried out.
Such toughened measures will allow timely detection of new cases of infection and promptly respond to them.
In general, the situation in the country, compared with China, Italy, Spain and France, is not so critical. But the number of infected continues to increase, so it is worth taking care of all precautions.
