The situation with coronavirus in Turkey today

Coronavirus belongs to a family that includes 40 types of RNA viruses. They are grouped into 2 subfamilies. Viruses are dangerous to humans and animals. The coronavirus got its name because of its structure: outwardly, it resembles a molecule with spike-like processes resembling a crown.

For the first time, infection with a new type of coronavirus became known on New Year's Eve, in 2019. But this news had no resonance, partly due to New Year's Eve fuss and misunderstanding of the scale of the problem. Wuhan, China, has become the epicenter of the infection. Cases of infection were first detected there.

Are there any cases of coronavirus in Turkey

The Ministry of Health informs the population about the news regarding the emergence and spread of the virus in the territory of the Republic of Turkey. The first infected person appeared on March 11, 2020. He did not become infected within the country, but brought Covid-19 from European countries. The NTV channel reported on the citizen's illness. Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca assured that the person feels satisfactory, he is in quarantine, his family members, as well as all those who had contact with him, were taken under observation.

But, unfortunately, the virus is still spreading throughout the country. Despite the efforts of the authorities, on March 16 it was reported that in just one day the number of infected people had almost tripled. Thus, the total number of infected is 43 people. The last 29 episodes are related to Turkish citizens coming from countries:

  • USA;
  • Europe: Spain, Italy;
  • Mecca, Medina.

As in the case of Russia, the main threat to Turkey is its citizens who, on business, pilgrimage or tourist trips, left the country and returned there already infected.

For example, the results of the pilgrimage came down to infection with the virus, as well as quarantine in the amount of 10,000 people. The number is significant enough.

As of March 19, the number of infected people has also increased dramatically. The total number is 191 people, in addition, 3 cases of death. Such a sharp spurt of the virus forced the Turkish authorities to take quarantine measures, but so far it is possible to travel to Turkey without interference.

Restrictions imposed by the authorities

The situation with coronovirus in Turkey is calmer than, for example, in Spain. However, precautionary measures have been taken:

  1. Closing borders with countries:
  2. Iran;
  3. China;
  4. Iraq;
  5. South Korea.
  6. All tourists coming to the country from countries with an unfavorable epidemiological situation are quarantined for 14 days.
  7. Pilgrims returning from the Hajj from Saudi Arabia are required to be screened.
  8. The thermal imaging survey was initially conducted only for Chinese citizens. Now it has affected all tourists classified as at risk.
  9. The Turkish Ministry of Health has urged its citizens to refrain from traveling abroad. Those who have already returned must isolate themselves at home for 14 days.
  10. The population of Turkey was advised to wear masks, as well as to immediately seek medical attention if citizens feel unwell, especially those who have returned from European countries.
  11. Hotel owners in Turkey have been ordered to increase the regular disinfection of surfaces. In particular, door handles, air conditioners, recreation areas, etc.
  12. Cancellation of collective prayers on the territory of mosques. These are five daily prayers and jumah.
  13. Possible introduction of a curfew in Turkey. But this measure is only planned, at the moment (as of March 19, it has not yet been introduced).

Is there panic in the streets

There is no panic in Turkey. This is partly due to the fact that the state is not the leader in the number of cases, but in a short time it managed to overtake Russia in this indicator. The Turkish authorities are reassuring the population, but they are thinking about the lightning speed of the virus.

In early March, doctors hoped that they would not encounter a new type of virus in their country. As a standard, adults and children were treated for ARVI and influenza, explaining the appearance of diseases by seasonality. The weather in the country is changeable at this time of the year. But the coronavirus still settled in Turkey.

Will it be possible to go to the sea by the summer?

When the Russian authorities closed sunny and hot Egypt, Turkey became the leader in terms of the number of tickets purchased there. The climate of the state, the Black, Aegean Sea is popular with travelers. It is important that the cost of tours to this state is lower than other countries. Therefore, the question of whether it is worth going there as a child in 2020 is relevant for many. Russians are afraid not only of the Chinese virus in Turkey, but also of the tense relations between Russia and Turkey, which have soured recently.

For an answer to this question, you need to contact the experts. If we talk about the problem on a global scale, then at WHO, the director of emergencies in the field of health, Michael Ryan, assesses the prospect of the disappearance of the virus as utopian.

In particular, he said that one should not hope that with the onset of warm weather in the countries of the world, the virus will disappear. In addition, specialists, among whom virologists and doctors are observed, cannot guarantee citizens that the disease will completely disappear. Worst of all, they cannot talk about how she will behave in the future.

Ryan honestly stated that he does not know what the activity, the dynamics of the newly appeared virus will be in different countries, with warm or cold climates. But it would be a lie to say that the virus will go away. And there is no reason to think so.

But there are also optimistic forecasts. Alexander Shestopalov, head of the department of infectious diseases, claims that Covid-19 will subside by July 2020. At the same time, he draws attention to China, the peak incidence in this state was passed on February 2, 2020.

Based on this, each traveler decides for himself whether to go to the sea or stay at home. He takes responsibility for his life and children, since it is with them that they usually go on vacation.
