The situation with coronavirus in Uzbekistan

The rapid spread of coronavirus around the world every day increases the panic and serious fear for their lives in many people. However, in countries such as Uzbekistan, where isolated cases of the disease have been recorded, it is widely believed that the new virus is not much different from the usual flu and, by taking preventive measures, the authorities are clearly "going too far." What is the situation in fact, let's try to figure it out in this article.

The number of infected in the country: are there any dead

The first case of coronavirus disease was recorded in Uzbekistan on March 15, 2020 based on the conclusion of the test at the Institute of Virology. The sick citizen arrived from France.

Until that day, there were only unconfirmed rumors, which include information that twenty people were infected and taken to the hospital at once in Jizzakh. However, according to the Ministry of Health of the country, these data are not confirmed by anything.

Even earlier - January 25 - Abdulaziz Karimov - President of Uzbekistan

- reported that two people with suspected coronavirus crossed the border of the country. Doctors examined the condition of these citizens, but the diagnosis was not confirmed.

As of March 20, the number of confirmed cases of diagnosing the COVID-19 virus has reached thirty-three people, according to the press service of the country's Ministry of Health. Of this number, nine cases were detected in relatives of previously ill patients. And one infected citizen arrived from abroad. There are no lethal outcomes.

More than 2,300 people are in quarantine. In accordance with the order of the authorities, in order to prevent coronavirus in Uzbekistan, all citizens arriving in the country are sent to a two-week quarantine.

Based on the data on the Central Asian republics of the former USSR, we can say that thanks to the comprehensive measures taken to protect and inform the population in Uzbekistan, it is possible to control the situation.

Where are the infected treated?

Due to the fact that all citizens of Uzbekistan with the identified 2019-nCoV virus have no complications, and the disease does not proceed in a severe form, their treatment is carried out under the supervision of specialists at home. Patients receive all the necessary medical care. A 14-day strict quarantine is a non-negotiable condition for patients.

Medical institutions in Uzbekistan are equipped with everything necessary to provide emergency assistance to patients in case of deterioration in their condition or the appearance of new patients with serious complications. And we are ready to provide qualified assistance if necessary.

Protective measures in the country

Despite the fact that until March 15, 2020, not a single case of infection with the 2019-nCoV virus was recorded in Uzbekistan, the country's authorities took measures aimed at preventing a pandemic in the country.

According to Alisher Shadmanov, the head of the Ministry of Health, the republic has a sufficient supply of medicines needed to treat this viral disease. Artificial lung ventilation devices were purchased and distributed among medical institutions, the acute demand for which was clearly demonstrated in China. (The cause of most of the recorded deaths was precisely pneumonia, which causes difficulty in breathing - the most serious complication of the course of the coronavirus disease).

Specifically, in order to effectively counter the epidemic and to overcome the consequences, the government of the country created an anti-crisis fund. His capital is approximately one billion dollars.

Statistical data on the spread of the virus in countries bordering Uzbekistan are sent to a headquarters specially created under the ministries of health and emergency situations. And already on the basis of the information received, recommendations are developed, the essence of which is the necessary restrictive or preventive measures.

As soon as the Chinese virus was registered in Uzbekistan and the number of citizens of the country who fell ill with coronavirus increased, the government of the country introduced tougher measures. In particular:

  • Epidemiological measures are being taken to prevent the spread of the virus.
  • Since March 20, air traffic on international airlines has been suspended for forty days.
  • Passenger traffic to international destinations is limited.
  • Tourist activities have been suspended.

In order to protect the health of citizens of Uzbekistan and in accordance with the adopted law “On the sanitary and epidemiological welfare of the population”, all entertainment facilities will be closed from March 21 until the situation stabilizes. Namely: computer rooms, discos and nightclubs, massage rooms and spas, canteens and teahouses, hookah establishments and billiard rooms.

From March 23, weddings and other celebrations with more than 10-15 people are cancelled. And also a ban is introduced on the organization and conduct of rituals and ceremonies.

Thanks to active explanatory work and preventive measures taken to prevent and spread coronavirus in Uzbekistan, the epidemiological situation is under control. The country's authorities are doing everything to exclude a pandemic in the country.
