How Sochi lives under quarantine

In March, the World Health Organization declared the outbreak of coronavirus infection, which began in the Chinese province of Wuhan, a pandemic. The new virus has infected more than 1.6 million worldwide and killed more than 100,000 people. Despite the ongoing quarantine measures in Russia, the situation still remains acute

Goals of quarantine due to coronavirus

The main purpose of quarantine is to prevent the spread of infection. Indeed, due to its structure, Covid-19 is transmitted by airborne droplets and is a highly contagious virus. And so that the Italian scenario does not repeat itself in Russia, it is worth observing the regime of self-isolation. This is especially true for the elderly and those with chronic diseases. The situation in Sochi was complicated by the fact that many people, having learned about the non-working week, thought that an unplanned vacation fell on their heads and went to rest in the south. Because of this, some aircraft had to be deployed into the air.

What is known about quarantine in Sochi due to coronavirus

The Krasnodar Territory was the very first to feel the delights of the quarantine regime. The self-isolation regime was introduced here on March 31 at 19:00, which is earlier than in Moscow, where the epicenter of infections in Russia is now. At first, the locals were very scared. According to the stories of local residents, on March 31 at 18:00, many people received an SMS with the text that everyone needs to be at home at 19:00, otherwise measures will be taken. There were even rumors that the government was going to these parts to escape the virus.

Now movement in the city is limited. And from all angles the call of the loudspeakers to stay at home is heard. There must be a good reason for leaving the house, such as walking the dog or going to the store or to the nearest garbage dump to throw out the trash. You can also leave the house for work, but for this you must have a certificate from the place of work. The authorities plan to introduce online passes both in Moscow and in the Moscow region

Educational institutions during quarantine

Since March 16, all universities have switched to distance learning due to the coronavirus, and schools, in turn, have switched to free attendance. Quarantine in Sochi schools began on April 30, when the whole country went “for a non-working week,” and then, on April 6, schoolchildren were transferred to distance learning. Quarantine in kindergartens also began on April 6.

What is Distance Learning?

This is an educational process that takes place from home, through online conferences or chat with teachers. Moreover, a person continues to receive education in full. All tasks can be completed on a personal computer or on a laptop (netbook). The schedule is planned in advance, it contains a plan for the entire work of the student for each subject separately. The topics necessary for study and assignments that should be completed and sent by a certain time, the time of online lessons, the timing of tests, control and practical work are determined.

Distance learning takes place online in accordance with the school or higher education program and includes aspects such as online lessons using a webcam and microphone, chats with teachers, online tests and live lectures. Students and schoolchildren work on specially designed sites that are owned by the educational institution, personal sites of teachers and the All-Russian remote testing system.

The government has required all schools, colleges and universities to prepare platforms for successful remote learning and to control e-scores. Low-income citizens should be allocated equipment for the period of distance learning for its successful completion

Which businesses have stopped working?

Together with the schoolchildren, the enterprises of the whole country went on vacation, Novosibirsk enterprises were no exception. Not so long ago, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, extended "non-working days" until April 30, with the possibility of their early termination, if the epidemiological situation allows. All enterprises that are not socially necessary and have not switched to remote work have stopped working.

Who keeps working?

By order of the President and the recommendations of the Ministry of Labor, medical and pharmacy organizations continue to operate, organizations whose activities cannot be suspended, organizations providing the population with essential products (sellers, storekeepers, etc.), organizations ensuring the protection of public health, as well as state funds and organizations providing repair and maintenance of the population.

Until what date will the quarantine in Sochi

According to the latest forecasts of virologists, the peak of diseases is expected only in 1-2 weeks, and in the most favorable scenario, it will be possible to completely overcome the infection only in the summer. Officially, quarantine was introduced until April 30 with the possibility of early lifting of quarantine measures if the epidemiological situation is normal. The imminent lifting of quarantine is not yet worth it, but relaxation of self-isolation is possible.

Will there be tourists in the city

It depends on the course of the epidemic. Even if the virus recedes before the summer, the influx of tourists should not be expected. People will be afraid of catching the virus. The global crisis that awaits people after the end of the pandemic will hit the budget of many people, due to which the flow of tourists will decrease.
