In Russia, the peak of the COVID-19 epidemic has not yet passed. The number of people infected with the virus is growing every day. The main blow fell on the central part of the country, which includes the Vladimir region, where one death has already occurred in the city of Kovrov. Every day the situation may worsen. Most residents of this city have a logical question: “Is there a coronavirus in Kovrov itself, in addition to one fatal outcome?”
How many people in Kovrov are sick with coronavirus
The Vladimir Region, which is part of the Central Federal District, is located on the border with the Moscow Region, the main epicenter of the spread of coronavirus, as well as the Yaroslavl, Ryazan, Nizhny Novgorod and Ryazan regions, which already have a fairly high level of infection. As of April 8, 2020, there were only 14 people who fell ill from COVID-19 in the region and one died, the likelihood of a rapid spread of the disease is very high.
It was in Kovrov, the city of gunsmiths, that the first death from the epidemic was recorded back in March. It was a 48-year-old man who was included in the general fee with a diagnosis of pneumonia. There he communicated with all the patients and medical staff. A few days later, the man died, and a positive test for coronavirus came from Moscow. All those who had contact with the patient (about 90 people) were isolated.
Coronavirus can spread rapidly in Kovrov. At the moment, 5 people are infected and more than 350 people who have been in contact with patients are under observation.
The administration of the city of Kovrov is taking measures to prevent and combat the impending threat: sanitization of streets, premises, and hospitals is being carried out. In Kovrov, all schools were closed for quarantine.
The work of restaurants, cafes, markets, fairs, gyms, fitness centers, beauty salons, hairdressers has been temporarily suspended. Cultural, entertainment, theatrical and other public events are prohibited. Only pharmacies and grocery stores are allowed to operate. Quarantine has been introduced in colleges in Kovrov. Educational institutions, with the exception of kindergartens, have switched to distance learning¹.
¹ Decree of the Administration of the Kovrovsky District No. 137 dated March 27, 2020 “On making additions to the resolution of the administration of the Kovrovsky district No. 112 dated March 17, 2020.
The police are constantly monitoring compliance with the self-isolation regime. Those who evade the implementation of orders and decrees of the government are held accountable. The hotline operates around the clock.
When will quarantine in schools and colleges end?
This issue worries many, but it is difficult to give an accurate forecast for it, since the situation with the spread of COVID-19 in Russia has not yet been fully studied. Many aspects of work in the context of the coronavirus have been delegated by the President of Russia to the discretion of the Heads of the regions.
And, most likely, at the regional level, decisions will be made to end the quarantine in schools, colleges and other educational institutions, depending on the epidemiological situation in a particular subject of the Russian Federation. So far, distance learning has been extended until April 30, 2020 for all schools, colleges, technical schools and universities in the city of Kovrov. According to doctors, quarantine will help to transfer the coronavirus infection in a mild form and reduce the risk of complications.
Where to get tested for COVID-19 in Kovrov
In Russia, there are official centers for taking tests for coronavirus. They are located in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other large cities. But these tests can only be taken with the direction of a doctor.
However, due to the current situation, the Russian government has allowed testing for COVID-19 in private laboratories. Today there are three of them: Helix, Medsi and Hemotest. Anyone can be tested for coronavirus, but provided that there are no signs of SARS, fever, nasal discharge and sore throat.
Recently, we often hear that after the COVID-19 pandemic, the world will change dramatically, and no one can predict what awaits us next. Europe, which was so proud of open borders and free movement across them, is now forced to block the movement of foreign citizens. Countries are closing and isolating from each other. Serious damage is being done to the economy of the whole world.
Russia is trying to be proactive and is introducing preventive measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, it is so important for every citizen of our country not to forget about the prevention of coronavirus infection, which consists in washing hands frequently and avoiding visiting places with large crowds of people. Be healthy!
