Coronavirus rapidly swept the whole world, and Russia was no exception. Individual cities of the country every day more and more absorb this disease. Belgorod and the Belgorod region also entered the risk zone.
Where was the first case of infection detected?
Coronavirus in the Belgorod region was first recorded on March 8, 2020. The first case of the disease affected a resident of the Belgorod region, she felt symptoms of malaise during a trip to Moscow, after which she was placed in the infectious diseases department. Later, citizens of the region were hospitalized, one way or another coming into contact with an infected girl in the last two weeks before the discovery of the disease.
The chronology of the spread of the virus in the region shows that only this citizen was affected by the virus for several weeks.
The second case of coronavirus infection in the Belgorod region was observed much later, 3 weeks after the first outbreak was detected. Further, the situation is deteriorating, and the rate of increase in the incidence increases significantly. So, as of April 8, 2019, the number of citizens infected with coronavirus in the Belgorod Region increased to 18 people, i.e. it became 9 times higher in just a week. Since the discovery of the infection, only one patient has been cured.

Recent reports of coronavirus from reputable sources suggest that two infected Belgorod residents were infected after contact with a guest from Moscow. The Moscow guest, in addition to the two infected persons, was in contact with at least ten people, which subsequently led to the infection of two more Belgorod residents. Signs of COVID-19 infection were found in a woman who was admitted to the hospital with a diagnosis of pneumonia, and has now been transferred to Stary Oskol for further treatment.

In connection with the adoption of the Presidential Decree on the regime of self-isolation, residents of Belgorod and the Belgorod region also switched to voluntary self-isolation. The Belgorod authorities, in every possible way supporting small businesses, announced the following intentions for further actions:
The authorities are going to support individual enterprises in the field of air travel, road transport, culture, the entertainment industry, sports and tourism organizations, catering and some other areas;
- the Belgorod authorities are planning to introduce a deferment on insurance premiums for a period of six months; extend the terms for payment of advance payments on land tax and a number of other taxes; introduce a ban on sanctions by the Federal Tax Service against small businesses;
- also, the authorities provide the opportunity to take microloans (for 2 years up to 5,000,000 rubles) with the possibility of deferring its return;
- there is the possibility of guaranteeing unsecured bank loans from the Belgorod Guarantee Fund using a reduced rate of 0.5% for sowing campaigns.
The Belgorod hotel business reacted in a peculiar way to the news about the coronavirus. As you know, due to the aggravation of the situation, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, Mikhail Mishustin, limited the work of boarding houses, hotels and other similar holiday homes in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. However, representatives of the industry of the Belgorod region reacted differently to such an order.

Most hotels refer to state decrees when accepting orders, without violating the norms introduced in connection with the tense situation in the world. But some prominent business representatives continue to quietly check in guests, including from other cities, including Moscow, where the largest number of cases of infection was noticed. In their comments on this position, hotel representatives refer to the fact that they accommodate people who do not have pronounced symptoms of poor health, such as fever, dry cough, and so on.
The deputy head of the regional health department, Lyudmila Krylova, reports that at the moment the region does not need large-scale diagnostics of citizens for coronavirus infection. However, the department is considering the possibility of attracting network commercial laboratories for these purposes in case the situation worsens.
At the moment, the situation with coronavirus in the Belgorod region is as follows: the message about the coronavirus and the presidential decree on self-isolation led to the fact that as of April 9, 2020, 1180 people were self-isolated in Belgorod, 3683 people were removed from the self-isolation regime (292 people more than last days). There are currently 17 Belgorod residents in the hospital.
