On TV, in the print media, as well as on the Internet, news regarding the coronavirus epidemic is published everywhere. Due to the fact that the Trans-Baikal Territory has a long border with China, the coronavirus in Chita has become one of the most discussed topics among both doctors and officials and ordinary citizens. Given this fact, it is worth studying the situation with the panic in the city and what measures the regional leadership is taking to prevent the spread of COID-19.
The number of people infected with the virus in the city
Chita, due to its elementary geographical proximity to China, became one of the first Russian cities where a case of coronavirus infection was officially recorded. True, this disease was diagnosed in a Chinese citizen named Wang Yunbin. At the moment he has already been discharged from the hospital. His family has also been released from quarantine. As for other cases of coronavirus infection in Chita, they have not yet been officially registered.
“The city is now experiencing a seasonal outbreak of influenza and SARS, so some sick people are sent immediately for additional examinations, as they may be suspected of being infected with COID-19.”
Is there a panic in Chita: the situation with masks and disinfectants
In general, the situation in the city looks calm. People do not panic yet, as the virus in the Russian Federation and the Trans-Baikal Territory has not yet turned into a pandemic. It is quite possible that thanks to certain steps on the part of the administration of the region and the government of the country, the spread of the disease can be stopped even before the start of a real epidemic.
Despite the virtually absent panic mood, many people have already begun to actively buy essential goods in case of quarantine. Therefore, in some retail chains, there is already a shortage of salt, cereals, pasta, as well as soap and toilet paper. True, the management of supermarkets assures that the shortage is temporary and all products and goods sold out on the wave of general desire to prepare for a possible quarantine will be continuously imported.
If everything is clear with cereals and toilet paper and there will obviously not be a shortage of these products, then it is already unrealistic to find medical maxi and disinfectants for hands and work surfaces in pharmacies. People also bought up medical alcohol.
“It is worth noting that medical masks are useless for healthy people, as they are not able to prevent the virus from entering the body. Masks should only be used by humans. Having symptoms of SARS and influenza. They will allow such people to minimize the chances of infecting others.”
Protective measures in the city
During a meeting of the situational center of the Trans-Baikal Territory on coronavirus, the governor of the region, Alexander Osipov, announced the possible imminent introduction of a high-alert regime in the region. Such measures are due to the possible start of the COID-19 epidemic in the Russian Federation and the Trans-Baikal Territory.
At the same time, it should be noted that one of the first steps taken by the leadership of the region, aimed at combating the outbreak of SARS, influenza and the likely spread of coronavirus, was the decision to extend the spring school holidays. It is possible that in the coming days a decision will be made to cancel studies in higher educational institutions.
The regional administration also asked people who have symptoms of a cold to adhere to the principle of self-isolation. It is recommended to abandon the idea of visiting the hospital on your own and take advantage of the opportunity to call a doctor at home. Residents of Chita should refuse to attend mass events and stay in crowded places.
It should be noted that a reaction-situational center for countering the spread of coronavirus is operating in the Trans-Baikal Territory. The structure of this center included representatives of state bodies.
