The world at the beginning of this year was faced with an epidemic of coronavirus. This misfortune did not bypass the administrative center of the Republic of Mari El, Yoshkar Olu. The city authorities are taking all necessary measures to prevent the development of infection. In addition, in case of an outbreak of the disease, boxes have been equipped in the city's clinics to receive a large number of patients diagnosed with covid-19. The measures taken will make it possible to keep the epidemiological situation under control even in the event of a negative scenario.
Are there any cases of coronavirus in Yoshkar Ola
The first coronavirus in Yoshkar Ola was recorded on March 29. As a result of the tests, the diagnosis was laboratory confirmed in two women aged 26 and 38, respectively. The first lady arrived in the city by train from Moscow, where she worked at one of the capital's airports. An epidemiological investigation was carried out in relation to another city dweller regarding her possible contact with infection carriers. However, no definite answer has been given to this question.
Unfortunately, the number of infected people in Yoshkar Ola after these cases is increasing almost daily. Currently, there are several dozen citizens with a diagnosed coronavirus infection. And on January 9, a sad event happened: the first death from covid-19 was recorded in the republican hospital. The victim of the disease was 37 patients admitted to the department in a state of moderate severity. Doctors carried out resuscitation for several days, but it was not possible to save her.
The received negative news prompted the authorities of the region to tighten restrictions in the republican center. As in all of Russia, many enterprises in the city stopped their work. The restrictions imposed were adequate to the current situation. On the one hand, they increased the security of citizens, and on the other hand, they were not extraordinary.
Quarantine measures in the city
Due to the disappointing dynamics of the spread of coronavirus infection, quarantine was introduced in Yoshkar Ola with the following restrictive measures:
- Prohibition of leaving the house without good reason. These include going to the nearest store for groceries or medicines, walking pets within 100 meters from home, going to the place of work for workers included in the exception list. You can also leave the house to seek medical help;
- Closure of all educational institutions. Transition of all schools to online form of education.
- Rigid isolation of all persons who have been in contact with a person infected with coronavirus infection. At least the quarantine regime will have to be observed for two weeks.
In addition, the President of the country gave additional powers to the regional authorities to combat covid-19. In particular, if the epidemiological situation worsens in Yoshkar Ola, a pass may be introduced and the purchase of strong alcohol may be prohibited. However, at the last meeting with the head of the republic, the authorities did not tighten quarantine measures.

Since April 2, testing for coronavirus infection in Yoshkar Ola has expanded significantly. At present, employees of Rospotrebnadzor have developed a fairly effective test system. And if before they were issued only to people who left the Russian Federation, now anyone can be tested for the presence of covid-19.

For residents of the city of Yoshkar-Ola in the GBU RME "Polyclinic No. 2, an appointment for testing is conducted in room 105 from 8.00 to 17.00. You need to take your passport and policy with you. The very same laboratory research is carried out in the AIDS center. The test results will be made public the next day and will be communicated to the person through:
- Email;
- phone;
- Personally in room 105 after 17.00.
Until recently, testing for the presence of coronavirus infection was carried out exclusively on the basis of the laboratory of the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology of the Rospotrebnadzor system, and was aimed at examining people in self-isolation who arrived from foreign trips in the last month.
Coronavirus hotline numbers
In mid-March, due to the spread of a dangerous disease in Yoshkar Ola, a hotline was put into operation. Its main purpose was to receive calls from residents of the Republic of Mari El who returned from trips abroad. Tourists and other residents were required to call 8 (8362) 45-18-08. They informed the operators of the arrival, the place of the trip and contact details.
In addition, now anyone can call toll free numbers: 8-800-555-49-43 or 8-800-2000-112, asking about the situation with coronavirus in Yoshkar Ola. The city authorities are trying by all means to prevent panic, therefore they demonstrate an enviable openness when communicating with the townspeople. However, people themselves are stoically coping with the infectious crisis that has arisen, so the flow of calls to the hotline has not yet been observed. In addition to it, the authorities are exhaustively informing citizens about the emerging epidemiological situation in the city.
