The situation in Moscow with the new coronavirus

In January 2020, the whole world learned about the new coronavirus, which was later called COVID-19. In a matter of months, it covered most of the world, outbreaks of this disease were recorded in many countries on various continents. This did not bypass to take into account Russia. Cases of coronavirus have been recorded in various cities, including the capital, Moscow.

How many infected and dead in Moscow

According to the latest reports, the number of patients with coronavirus in Moscow has reached 131 people, and this number has begun to grow rapidly in recent years. Over the past day, 33 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in Moscow. All those infected came from various European countries, where there are many more confirmed cases of coronavirus and the situation is the most dangerous.

REFERENCE: It is noteworthy that among the sick there are two minors. One of them, after arriving in Moscow, did not go to school, the second minor did not attend classes since March 12, his school was immediately closed for quarantine.

In which hospital are the patients

People who are suspected of having coronavirus or have already been diagnosed in Moscow are hospitalized either at the Infectious Clinical Hospital No. 1 and No. 2, or at the hospital complex in Kommunarka (located in the Moscow region). These institutions specialize in infectious diseases. Patients receive the help they need.

Diagnostics is also carried out in these institutions, all people who are suspected of having coronavirus are taken there. They do the necessary tests and analyzes, and if any suspicions arise or alarming symptoms appear, the tests are done again.

The incubation period for COVID-19 is two weeks, which is why people are quarantined for this period to prevent the spread of the disease.

The necessary assistance is provided to all patients absolutely free of charge under the regular CHI policy. The stay in the hospital is also paid by the state, so no additional costs from the patients will be required. Patients cannot be visited by relatives, but they can transfer the necessary things.

A vaccine for COVID-19 has not yet been invented, so patients with coronavirus are treated depending on their symptoms. They are usually given antipyretics, antibiotics, and antivirals that can relieve symptoms and speed up recovery.

It should be noted that the trend in Moscow is very good. No deaths have been reported from coronavirus, and the first cases have already recovered and have been discharged from the hospital. No alarming consequences of the disease were found in them.

How many people are on observation and where

There is no specific place of observation in Moscow, however, according to the decree of the Mayor of Moscow, all citizens arriving from countries where the situation is most aggravated due to the coronavirus must go into self-isolation mode upon returning to Moscow. A person should not leave his home, attend work, educational institutions, any events and not invite guests to his place.

Quarantine lasts a standard 14 days, during this time you can officially issue a sick leave. Moreover, relatives or neighbors of these people are not required to quarantine if the person does not show symptoms of COVID-19. If alarming symptoms were detected, then you should immediately contact the specialists.

There is a dedicated hotline for this. If you call her, the specialist will give the necessary advice, tell you what further events should be, and in extreme cases, arrange for a doctor to be called at home so that a face-to-face consultation is made.

Also in Moscow there are a number of volunteers who are ready to bring the necessary things to the house. Basically they help the elderly and lonely people on their own initiative.

Everyone who is quarantined at home, as well as their loved ones, needs to observe hygiene measures with particular care and be attentive to well-being. In the event that any alarming symptoms are detected, it is necessary to take urgent measures and consult a doctor.

Is there a panic in the city

As such, panic is avoided, but people are still excited. The Internet has a significant effect, where individuals, for various reasons, try to cheat everyone else. Far fewer people have begun to use public transport, the majority either stay at home, or travel in a private car or call a taxi.

Difficulties arise with products. Again, the Internet plays a big role here. People, having read that the goods are running out and soon there will be a shortage, run to empty the shelves. They mainly buy long-term products, such as cereals or pasta, as well as personal care products. However, in reality there is no shortage and cannot be, no one stopped deliveries, but people themselves unintentionally create it.

A similar situation occurs with protective masks, respirators and other necessary medical equipment.

On the streets of the city you can meet individuals who react too violently to any person coughing in the subway or queues, but there are only a few such individuals. For the most part, people try to keep a cool head and look at the situation soberly.

Where to get tested for coronavirus in Moscow

It is impossible to take a coronavirus test on your own, for this you need to contact a specialized institution. The examination is not done by all people, to pass it just like that, just in case, if desired, it will not work, there must be clear indications for this and a referral from a doctor. The indications include:

  • cases when a person has arrived from countries where cases of coronavirus infection are more frequent in the last 14 days;
  • cases when people who arrived from such countries were diagnosed with signs of SARS;
  • cases when a person has been in contact with a person who has COVID-19.

The sample for analysis is taken exclusively in specialized institutions. Private laboratories do not conduct such studies, they do not have access to the necessary markers. However, it must be remembered that there are not so many state laboratories that are able to do this analysis, so obtaining the results may take a long time.

Protective measures in the city

Increased security measures have been introduced in the city, public and cultural places have been closed. Educational institutions are massively quarantined, students are transferred to distance learning. People are also advised, if possible, to switch to remote work and try not to go out without unnecessary necessity, not to use public transport.

So far, such strict measures as in Europe have not been introduced in Moscow and other Russian cities. Whether the quarantine conditions will tighten or not remains a matter of time and changed circumstances.

Also, the Ministry of Health urges Moscow residents to follow standard precautions, which include the following:

  • observe the rules of personal hygiene (wash your hands often or use disinfectants);
  • try not to touch your face with unwashed hands;
  • reduce visits to public places to the necessary minimum;

minimize travel by public transport;

  • supervise children, explain to them the current state of affairs and explain the importance of observing precautions and hygiene;
  • if necessary, wear protective medical masks or respirators. It must be remembered that masks should be changed every few hours.

These are general, standard rules that WHO recommends that residents of all countries adhere to during all kinds of epidemics and pandemics.

The situation in Moscow is the most critical, if we take into account the state of affairs in Russia in general, the largest number of cases occurs in Moscow. However, if you follow the necessary safety measures, the spread of coronavirus can be stopped.
