The situation with coronavirus in St. Petersburg

Coronavirus is a dangerous disease that was first reported in residents of the Chinese city of Wuhan. In connection with open air and land communications, the disease quickly spread throughout the world. In Russia, as of March 20, 200 cases of infection were registered.

How many people are infected with the coronavirus?

On January 22, a message appeared in the media that a man was hospitalized at the St. Petersburg airport with suspected Chinese coronavirus. Two patients were examined at the Botkin hospital. One of them was Russian, and the second was Chinese.

On March 18, 54 patients were taken to the Botkin hospital. During this period, there were 267 people in this medical institution. The diagnosis was confirmed only in 7 patients. The hospital has identified the first contact case of transmission of the virus.

Thanks to timely measures taken, the coronavirus in St. Petersburg is not spreading rapidly. On March 19, 5 cases of infection with the disease were observed. On March 20, 2020, two Russians were hospitalized, who were confirmed to have coronavirus. In total, the diagnosis was confirmed in 7 people in the city.

Petersburg spoke about the condition of those infected with coronavirus

Rospotrebnadzor reports that all patients with coronavirus are being treated in a hospital. The disease proceeds in a mild form, and their state of health is satisfactory. Today, there are 303 patients in the inpatient department of the Botkin medical institution. 26 of them are sick with SARS. They were discharged from the hospital. On this day, 78 people were hospitalized in the medical center.

On March 19, the disease was diagnosed in a resident of the city, who did not travel outside the country, but was in contact with people who came from Switzerland. The girl was admitted to the hospital for treatment. Doctors regard her state of health as satisfactory.

IMPORTANT! Coronavirus in St. Petersburg was cured in two patients who were discharged from the hospital.

The governor of St. Petersburg A. Beglov signed a decree, according to which it is not recommended to leave the country. If a person was in the People's Republic of China, Italy, Korea, Germany, France, Spain, then he must self-isolate for 2 weeks. Also, these citizens must call a doctor at home for a medical examination.

St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region banned all major mass events

On March 16, A. Beglov, Governor of St. Petersburg, signed a resolution, according to which measures must be taken to combat the spread of coronavirus. On the territory of the city it is forbidden to hold mass events in which more than 1000 people participate.

From March 16 to April 30, 2020, it is forbidden to hold cultural, educational, entertainment, theatrical and entertainment events, sports and other mass events in which more than a thousand people will participate. The government of the Leningrad Region reports that this ban will be in effect throughout the entire region. Some sources report that the number of people participating in mass events has been reduced to 300.

The government issued recommendations to public organizations and associations not to hold public events in the region. Citizens of the Russian Federation are advised to inform a medical institution about their arrival from other countries, as well as to ensure a two-week self-isolation.

On March 18, the governor signed additions to the decree. Alexander Beglov banned the holding of cultural, entertainment, public and other public events until April 30. No more than 50 people can participate.

On March 17, the Ministry of Culture issued an order in accordance with which the work of federal cultural institutions was changed, including the Mariinsky and Alexandria theaters, the Hermitage, the National Library of Russia, Tsarskoe Selo, etc. The Legislative Assembly, due to take place on March 18, has not been cancelled. But, the authorities asked journalists who are not feeling well not to come to it.

Is there any reason to panic?

A hotline has been opened in St. Petersburg, which anyone can call. The center's specialists tell people how the virus spreads from China and how to carry out prevention. More than 1,500 calls are received per day from residents of St. Petersburg.

In general, the situation in the city is under control, so the authorities are asking their residents not to spread panic. They urge citizens to be as careful as possible, as fraudulent groups have become more active due to the spread of the coronavirus. Their participant may introduce himself as a doctor, a disinfectant or a special service employee in order to get into an apartment for the purpose of robbery. In such a situation, it is recommended to contact the police.

Valery Pikalev, vice-governor, headed the headquarters for the fight against coronavirus. Officials say that a high alert regime will soon be introduced in the region. The only problem in the city is the lack of medical masks. But, the authorities promise that they will soon appear in the right quantity.

Less than 10 cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded in St. Petersburg. The authorities of the city and the region are taking measures to combat the spread of the disease.
