COVID-19 infection is the main news topic of the world. As of April 9, 2020, the number of infected people exceeded one and a half million, and the number of deaths was close to 100,000. Coronavirus in the Pskov region was officially identified at the end of March this year. Various measures are being taken to prevent the spread of the disease. Meanwhile, on April 8, 4 new cases of infection were detected, an increase of 40 percent from April 9.
How many people are infected with coronavirus in Pskov
The total number of infected people in Russia as of April 8, 2020 was approximately 9 thousand people, 63 patients died, and approximately 600 of them recovered. Coronavirus was detected in Pskov, where 14 cases were recorded (5 people are under suspicion), as well as 2 deaths among patients. More than 626 thousand people live in the region, so the number of infected people is less than a hundredth of a percent.
Against this background, the relatively high number of deaths (over 15 percent of diagnoses) is worrying. There are concerns that the number of cases may be higher, but due to insufficient diagnosis, not all cases have been identified. In the territorial units adjacent to the Pskov region, the situation is approximately the same, the issue is acute only in large cities.
Australian researchers have proposed an effective treatment for COVID-19. According to the laboratory of the Royal Melbourne Hospital, ivermectin suppresses the RNA of the virus in 48 hours, being non-toxic to body cells.
Thus, 94 cases of infection were detected in the Leningrad region, 12 patients in the Tver region, and 27 patients in the Vologda region. At the same time, a large number of infected people are in St. Petersburg (over 300 people), so COVID-19 can be brought to Pskov from there. Despite the insignificant number of infected people, the Pskov region has already experienced all the “charms” of quarantine.
Even before the restrictive measures, according to the order of Rospotrebnadzor, the activities of organizations involving mass gatherings of people were suspended. At the moment, the work of dozens of educational institutions has been paused, planned operations have been canceled, hundreds of people have lost their jobs.
The situation in the Pskov region
Despite the fact that there are relatively few cases of infection, two patients have already died on April 9, 2020, and another woman is in serious condition. In general, the situation can be called satisfactory and controlled, since the virus arrived in the region by the end of March, but the pace of its spread is average.
The government is taking various measures:
- The isolation mode has been introduced. Citizens should stay at home and leave the premises only if necessary.
- Institutions where COVID-19 was detected were transferred to quarantine. These measures have already been taken in relation to the city hospital, as well as any other institutions where the infection will be detected.
- Operating enterprises are subject to increased security requirements. Work streams should be separated, all employees should keep their distance, and the premises should be sanitized.
- A number of organizations have been allowed to reopen. After several days of complete isolation, the go-ahead was given to the activities of notary offices, beauty salons, and some types of stores - while carrying out epidemiological measures.
One of the problems is that people do not believe in official statistics and are afraid that the situation will get out of hand. A hotline is called upon to reassure citizens, and also daily reports from state bodies on the current situation.
Where to get tested for coronavirus in Pskov
As of April 8, 2020, about 3,000 tests for coronavirus have been carried out in the Pskov region. First of all, people who have been in contact with the sick, as well as medical workers, are subjected to research. At the same time, it is impossible to freely (optionally) pass the test on this date. In fact, the places where the research is being carried out are not named.
It has been suggested that test systems for coronavirus are sent to laboratories in other regions. However, you can go to the trick, call the clinic at the place of residence and report that there was a first-level contact. In this case, the doctors themselves will come to the address and take samples. But then you will have to spend 14 days in quarantine, and liability is provided for its violation.
The passage is obligatory for persons returning from unfavorable countries (Italy, Spain, USA). Be sure to inform your doctor about your stay in these states, even if there are no symptoms of the virus.
In addition, a referral for analysis can be issued by the attending physician. Possibilities for taking material (from the mouth and nose) are available in each clinic. The reason for the small number of tests is not officially called, but it is obvious. Systems for analysis are simply not enough for everyone.
Coronavirus hotline in Pskov
The fact that there is a coronavirus in the Pskov region was announced back in mid-March. At the same time, a hotline phone was called: 8-800-444-10-41, where it is recommended to call everyone who returned from regions and countries with an unfavorable epidemiological situation.
